6 Things I’ve Learned in Just 6 Months of My 20s ๐Ÿคญ

 Helloooo loviessss again ๐Ÿ˜‚

Today is the d’day — Saturdayyyy ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿพ and first of all, lemme take this moment to appreciate ALL the love and feedback I got on my last blog ๐Ÿฅน. Like yoh!! I’ve been shedding a few tears here and there not gonna lie ๐Ÿ˜ญ.

First of all, I’m sending love and big hugs to you all ๐Ÿซ‚๐Ÿค. I’m sooo glad I’m helping some people—yoh!

Second, I think I’ve set the bar too high now and I’m afraid I’ll never be able to write anything that touching ever again ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜‚. But... I’d still like to try again though ๐Ÿ˜‚.

And I know I promised a story time but yoh! your girl is still trying to learn to not be a lazy potato and have a life other than bed and work ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜‚

The Blog Idea That Almost Didn't Happen ๐Ÿคญ

So, let’s get into it ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿพ.
A friend of mine, back when I was in my “not-being-able-to-write” era, suggested this topic. I was like, "I have nothing to say about that!" ๐Ÿ˜‚

He told me to write about what I’ve learned so far in my 20s. I laughed because, like??? I’ve only been here for 3 months! ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜‚ But then I thought, okay, we’re halfway through the year... so how about 6 things I’ve learned in 6 months? Hopefully, I can actually find six ๐Ÿ˜….

1. We know who we are through lived experiences.

You know when people say, “I know myself”? Yeah, I thought I did too. I was confident about how I’d act in certain situations — especially in the dating and love scene (that whole confusing thing) ๐Ÿ˜‚. But yoh!! What a lie. Mbpa, you surprise yourself — like who is this new person?

You don’t realize it at first, but the person you are daily — as a friend, as yourself — is the same person you bring into those spaces. I had built this whole “different girl” in my head, but if you’re insecure in your everyday life, you carry that with you. So maybe that’s two lessons in one ๐Ÿ˜‚.

Disclaimer: Still single as a pringle here ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜‚. Maybe I dipped my big toe in, but honestly, too much for me ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜‚. Call me scared, but whatever ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ˜‚.

2. Healing is such a very long journey.

So, guys (tell me another word to use instead of “so” ๐Ÿฅฑ), healing is the biggest journey. Like, what do you mean every day you think you’re done, then something new pops up to humble you?? Like, I am dooneee ๐Ÿซจ.

You’ll still find bits and pieces of broken glass you haven’t cleared yet — and it’s okayyy. But please try to remove the bigger parts before moving forward. That might take years, and that’s valid. Love yourself enough to take your time. The bits? Yeah, they come with every new door or level you unlock. Let them hurt you again if they must, but also celebrate how far you’ve come — because you’re not that same person anymore. ๐Ÿฉต

3. Life Isn’t Black and White — It’s Very Much Giving Grey ๐Ÿ‘€

If you know me, you know I’m that girl who loves structure. I want clarity. Plans. Names. Schedules. If I believe something? Don’t even try to argue ๐Ÿ˜ญ. I’ve probably stayed up nights building that belief brick by brick. So don’t come here with your hammer please ๐Ÿ˜‚.

But guess what I’ve discovered?
Life is mostly grey.

It’s made of those compromises you never thought you’d consider, those blind eyes you turn to survive, and that grace you give yourself when you don’t follow through on something you promised. It’s messy, unpredictable, and unstructured... and that’s okay too ๐Ÿฅน.

4. You need a place that pours into you.

Yeah yeah, we’ve all seen this on Instagram reels or Pinterest quotes — but lemme tell you, it’s TRUE.

Have you ever given so much — time, love, energy — that you start feeling like you have nothing left? Yeah. Been there ๐Ÿฅน. It’s important to find a place where you are poured into. Where when you complain, someone actually listens. They might not fix it — but just having that safe space to land? That’s gold.(Thank you to my friends๐Ÿฅน๐Ÿซ‚)

And the bestest place I’ve found so far? God. ๐Ÿฅน I’m telling you, He’s a loving Father. Umva, please get a God in your life — 10/10 recommendation.

5. Money doesn’t buy happiness, but it definitely buys breathing room ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Listen… adulthood is slowly showing me (okay, maybe even aggressively reminding me ๐Ÿ˜ญ) that yeah, love is cute and deep talks are great, but money??? Money is therapy. Money is peace. Money is options. Money is skincare and soft mornings.

I used to think caring too much about money meant you were materialistic or something, but nah. Learn about it. Ask about it. Respect it. Budget your 500 RWF and give it a mission. You don’t need to be rich, but you need to be wise.

Money affects everything, even your mental health sometimes — so don’t leave your financial health on vibes and prayers alone. Study. Save. Give. Invest. Even just start by understanding what your priorities are. It’s not about greed — it’s about freedom. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ‍๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’ธ(still learning๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜‚)

6. Your journey won’t look like anyone else’s — and that’s not a flaw, it’s a signature ๐Ÿ–Š️✨

I used to compare everything ๐Ÿ˜ญ — people’s careers, their peace, their friend groups, even their silence (like, wow, they’re so mysterious; look at me, I’m too loud ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜‚). But hear me: you’re not behind, you’re just being built. Your story is not supposed to be like theirs. It’s supposed to be like yours. Unique, weird, soft, strong, delayed, early, quiet, LOUD — whatever.

We’re all on different pages, in different books, and that’s not a failure. That’s a signature. Stop comparing timelines. Compare growth. Compare peace. And most of all, keep going.

Final Thoughts ✨

And that’s it y’all ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿพ.
Thank you for coming to my little blog therapy session again ๐Ÿ˜‚.

You’ve made it to the end so let me reward you with a bigggg hug and a prayer of peace and purpose for your life ๐Ÿซ‚๐Ÿค.
You are not alone. You are growing. And you're doing better than you think.

If anything resonated with you, or if you’ve got your own lesson from the past 6 months — drop it in the comments ๐Ÿฅน๐Ÿ“.
I'd seriously love to read what you’re learning and experiencing this year too ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿพ

Till next time my lovies ๐Ÿ’‹

  3. First sing I learnt after this blog is that you can be a good writer indeed, keep it up Lyy. My biggest lesson this year was that whether I like it all not, I am my biggest project: never close to an end but yet of high priority. Keeping you first helps you learn how you position yourself in the society, protect your peace and build your character and above all surrender it all to God, maan He is real and full of love. And above all I learnt how downcasting it is to try to live by proving a point; umvaa ntago bikora pee, it drains you and distracts you from where you are heading. The moment you learn that you and Christ you are the majority, you realise that you don’t need to consult the whole world for a move, you get to be cautious of your moves and most importantly you lean on His validations only. Umva ni byinshii I am still learning as well but all I can say is that live is a beautiful flower that keeps unfolding in my eyes all for my good!

Staying True to Yourself: Making Decisions Without Regret

Staying True to Yourself & Not Regretting Decisions Hellooooo guyzzz!! ๐Ÿ˜‚ It’s finally Saturday , and I am sooo excited to start posting on my blog! ๐ŸŽ‰ The only problem? I have no idea how to start. ๐Ÿ’€ I haven’t read a lot of blogs, and the ones I have read? Meh, not my style. So guess what? We’re freestyling this thing! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Stay tuned. A 35-Year-Old Made Me Think ๐Ÿคฏ So this week, I was talking to this guy—he’s like 35+ years old —and he told me something that shook me. He said: "It hasn’t even been two years since I actually started paying attention to what I want." I was like huh?? ๐Ÿคจ You mean to tell me that a whole grown man just started making decisions for himself?! Turns out, for most of his life, he had been following the crowd —doing things because everyone else was doing them. That blew my mind. Because if someone that age was just now figuring this out, then I must be doing something right by learning this lesson early! That got me thinking… ...

Attachment Styles: Why Your Childhood Might Still Be Texting Your Crush for You

Heyy loviesss! Longtime no seee I knowwww ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜‚ but let's saayy it has been a rollercoaster the past few weeks I think I might talk about it in the next blog this week( Yes!! you heard it right 2 blogs in one week๐Ÿ˜‚) Not gonna lie though I wrote this I think it's been a month already ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜‚ but this saturday be readyy for a story time , for tea and everythingggg๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ so let's get into it and I didn't want to check the whole thing again and overthink it as I did before ๐Ÿ˜‚ (so days means weeks ๐Ÿ˜‚) I listened to a podcast a few days ago where they were talking about childhood trauma — and if you know me, you know I’m a huge fan of psychology, mental health stuff, and all that good deep-diving into the human brain. ๐Ÿง ✨ They mentioned something about attachment styles — and listen, when I hear a new term or even something I think I know, it’s over for my sleep schedule. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I went down the biggest research rabbit hole — reading articles, watching videos, stalking expert opin...

Welcome to My Oversharing Lifestyle Blog! Let’s Learn & Grow Together

Hey, I’m Isimbi – Let’s Talk About Life So, here’s the thing—I’ve always been an oversharer. I’m the friend who sends long messages, reflects on the smallest moments, and turns everyday life into deep conversations. And honestly? I love it. I’ve been wanting to start this blog for a while now not because it’s some big milestone or special occasion—but because I’m finally ready. Life has been a mix of lessons, faith, growth, and a lot of trial and error, and I figured, why not create a space where we can talk about all of it? I know some of you might be thinking, “Why not just start a YouTube channel and vlog like everyone else?” And trust me, I’ve thought about it too. But here’s the thing… I am camera shy ๐Ÿ˜ญ. Well, maybe not camera shy , but me and cameras? Uhm, we just don’t work. The thought of sitting there, trying to be all put together, editing videos for hours—yeah, not happening. But writing? Writing is where I can be my full self. I can rant, overshare, and just let my thou...
